Broome Youth Families Hub (BYFH) is an Aboriginal-controlled community organisation navigating a period of significant change and evolution. To support this journey, the BYFH leadership team partnered with Leadership Space to explore what it truly means to operate with Aboriginal governance and identity at the centre — not simply aligning with national policy but defining this from BYFH’s own cultural and community perspective.
Through a series of coaching sessions and team workshops, the organisation engaged in deep reflection on its purpose, culture, and governance. This work included facilitated discussions with both the team and the Board, leading to a shared understanding of direction and values.
Together, they co-created a Theory of Change that was both meaningful and actionable, along with a new set of behaviours designed to strengthen cultural alignment and guide decision-making in challenging moments.
Lumina profiling was also introduced to strengthen recruitment and leadership development, whilst ongoing coaching reinforced team cohesion, clarity, and confidence across the organisation.
“It’s a long-term relationship. Leadership Space grows with us as an organisation. This provides the container to navigate growth.”
